Presentation: The Value of Traceable, High-Quality Measurements to Solar Asset Productivity

Dr Tom Betts is the Technical Director of the UK’s ISO17025 UKAS-accredited laboratory for traceable calibration of pyranometers, solar cells and full-size PV modules, based at Loughborough University. He leads the Applied Photovoltaics Research Group within the Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology, working to reduce uncertainty margins in PV system energy yield modelling and assessment, improve PV module service lifetime estimates and provides research support to PV industry. Dr Betts oversees the PV module characterisation, prototyping and accelerated stress testing laboratories and maintains the long term outdoor PV monitoring facility on the University campus, comprising a number of weather and solar PV measurement systems, operational for over 20 years.
